HOW
DO I...
Make
An Appointment?
Appointments may be made by telephoning 0844 4772517 or by calling at the surgery.
Our aim is to offer an appointment with a primary care professional within 24
hours and a GP within 48 hours.
If your
need is more urgent, please telephone as early as possible in the morning. It
is easier for the doctors to see extra patients during morning surgeries rather
than the afternoons.
If you have
to cancel an appointment, please do so as soon as possible, so that the time may
be offered to somebody else.
The doctors
are usually available for telephone advice between 12 noon and 1.30pm.
Locum
Doctors
If
your doctor is away, appointments will usually be arranged with a locum doctor.
Please remember that we will be unable to maintain our 48 hour access to appointments
if everyone chooses to wait for their own doctor to return rather than to use
the locum doctor.
HOW
DO I...
Obtain A Home Visit?
Home visits can be arranged for those patients whose medical condition is such
that they are unable to attend the practice premises. Wherever possible, patients
should telephone before 10.00am to request such a visit, giving the receptionist
as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house
calls.
Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that
it takes to do a home visit.
HOW
DO I...
Obtain Test Results?
The doctor or nurse should tell you how long the results are likely to take.
Please telephone
for results after 10.00am Monday to Friday. For reasons of confidentiality we
are unable to give results to a third party other than the parent or guardian
of young children.
HOW
DO I...
Obtain A Repeat Prescription?
Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor’s discretion and are
normally for patients on long-term treatment. Requests for prescriptions should
be made using the tear-off slip from your previous prescription, marking the
items that you require. There is a box in reception for your request slips, or
they can be posted, faxed on 0844 4772519 or to email them. We will not accept
telephone requests because of the risk of errors being made, but if you have
a query regarding your prescription, please call
the surgery after 10.00am.
We are unable to take orders or issue repeat prescriptions at weekends, public holidays or out of normal surgery hours. Please allow two complete working days before collection and make allowances for weekends and public holidays. Where possible give exact drug names when ordering.
Private Prescriptions
Patients who see a specialist privately are advised that under DSS regulations
they will be liable, at least initially, for their prescription costs.
Dispensing
We have provision to dispense to patients who live more than one mile from a chemist.
The Health Service Regulations on this matter are very strict and this service
can only be offered to those patients who register as dispensing when they join
the practice or when they move house. For further information, please telephone
the surgery and a member of our dispensary staff will be pleased to answer your
enquiries.
